"Leptocephalus" Trailer (2026)
"Leptocephalus" (2026) follows Simon, a man who begins crystalizing into salt after being bitten by an endangered eel. In search of answers, he travels to the caves from which the eel came and meets a host of bizarre characters.
The film is premiering in October at the Chicago International Film Festival in the Academy Award Qualifying Animated Shorts: Altered States block.
The film is animating with graphite on paper that is digitally colored as well as several claymation scenes, a full stop motion shot, and clay and salt animation overlaid throughout.
